The school currently has a staff of 36, among whom 4 are professors, 11 are associate professors, 2 are senior laboratory technicians, 13 are PhDs, and 17 are masters. Laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated experimental instruments, such as Infrared spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, gas chromatography, X-ray diffract meter, simultaneous thermal analysis, laser particle size analyzer, vacuum hot-pressing furnace, high-temperature sintering furnace, measuring instruments for material mechanical properties, material testing, vacuum glove box, polymer processing. Students in this department are very capable. They have won golden, silver or bronze medals in the “Challenge Cup” Competition, and Chemistry Experiment Competition of Hunan Province. 61.3% of the students majoring in chemistry and 37.3% in materials chemistry have continued to study for a master’s degree. 100% of the graduates get employed within four years, and the title of “Excellent Department for Graduate Employment Affairs” was conferred on it by the university.
